Dr Samanthi Jayarantne BDSc – Assistant Dentist
Dr Samanthi Jayaratne recently joined Kitchener Street Dental in April 2010. Her studies in dentistry began at the University of Queensland, where she qualified as a dentist in 2003. Samanthi was then employed as the Senior Dentist in Warwick and also practiced dentistry at a private dental practice in Warwick.
Dr Samanthi has attended training which includes clinical techniques for composite restorations, minor oral surgery, forensic odontology and worn dentition.
Margaret Fox – Receptionist
Margaret has enjoyed a 30 year career with the dental profession, having spent 23 years as a receptionist at Kitchener Street Dental. Her qualifications include:
Margaret has seen Kitchener Street Dental turn from an “appointment book and pencil” practice to the “Modern, streamlined practice it is today”. Margaret enjoys working as part of the team at Kitchener Street Dental and sees the staff as “A great team of professionals who place the needs, comfort and education of their clients above all else.” It is “This personal approach and care for our clients that I enjoy the most”.
When Margaret is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, which now includes two beautiful granddaughters, or she can be found working tirelessly with needle and thread, on yet another quilt.
Julie Hudek – Practice Manager/Receptionist
Julie has been employed in the dental industry for over 25 years. Julie’s employment history has included 10 years with the Department of Defence Army as a Sergeant Dental Supervisor of a Dental Unit. Julie also has experience in all aspects of general dentistry and speciality dentistry. She also is employed as a Work Place Trainer and Assessor for Southbank Institute of TAFE assessing dental assistants on the practical phase during of their course.
Julie is thrilled to be back in the dental industry after a two year absence whilst managing a physiotherapy practice.
Renee Melvelle–Dental Assistant
During Renee’s 2 ½ years as a dental assistant, she has worked within the field of Periodontics and Orthodontics, before joining the team at Kitchener Street Dental.
Renee enjoys the variety which accompanies the job, assisting in a range of dental treatments at Kitchener Street Dental. Her fascination with the field of dentistry allows her to expand her knowledge on a daily basis, whilst ensuring that the patients experiences of the practice are as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
Danielle Harvey –Dental Assistant
Danielle has been working at Kitchener Street Dental for 15 months as a dental assistant, while completing her Certificate III in Dental Assisting. Danielle was unsure about her chosen path after finishing school and so embarked upon her career at Kitchener Street Dental, where she has found the job to be “Amazingly interesting and rewarding”. Danielle has continued to learn about the role of work within the dental practice and is constantly engaged in new experiences , claiming “ Kitchener is a wonderful place to work, as everyone works together to achieve the highest quality work possible”.
Kristy Brundell – Dental Assistant
Kristy has been a dental assistant at Kitchener Street Dental for 14 months. Prior to her employment with us she was employed as a manager/senior hairstylist, hence Kristy has excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Kristy was eager for a career change and personal growth and was excited to commence her new career in the dental industry. Kristy has recently completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and hopes to commence her Certificate IV in near future. As well as being a friendly, hard working dental assistant, Kristy maintains the smooth running of all surgeries as the dental assistant co-ordinator. Kristy’s qualifications include:
Yolande Giltrow – Dental Assistant
Yolande known as ‘Yo’ is a most recent member of staff. Yolande contacted our practice seeking employment and we were so impressed we employed Yo on the spot. Yolande is in the process of being moulded into a first class dental assistant and we are sure she is looking forward to starting her Certificate III in Dental Assisting in the near future.
